Waratahs invite Fiji for Australian tour October 14, 2008
The New South Wales Waratahs have invited Fiji to play a couple of matches in Australia next year following a successful Fiji tour that ended last weekend.
The Fiji Rugby Union chief executive officer, Ratu Timoci Tavanavanua confirmed the invitation.
“Waratahs have invited us to play them again in Sydney in Jan 2009,” he said.
The Junior Waratahs toured Fiji last week where they played two matches, against Nadi they won 30-21 and their final match against the Fiji Warriors over the weekend, a 14-11 victory.
There were rumours that Waratahs coach Chris Hickey had eyed several Warriors reps next season’s Super 14 but Tavanavanua said they did not know anything of the sort.
“I haven't heard anything at this stage.”
Tailevu wing, Rupeni Caucau has been linked with the Australian team as well as Digicel Fiji 7s rep, lanky Isei Lewaqai.
