Ba focus on tougher O-League competition
October 14, 2008

Following their loss in the final of the 70th Inter District Championship at home, the Ba soccer side has shifted its focus to the Oceania League which kicks off next month.

The Vodafone Men In Black who lost 1-0 to Lautoka in the grand final have put the loss behind them and will march into camp this weekend to prepare for the Oceania League which features the best clubs from New Zealand, Solomon Islands, Papua New Guinea and Vanuatu.

Ba soccer boss Rishi Kumar said they have much bigger task at hand in the O- League and will be concentrating on the physical, mental and skills aspect of their players to ensure that they are ready for stronger level of competition.

“The IDC is over and now we will commence our preparation for the O League which is a far much bigger event, said Kumar.

“We will be representing the nation in the O League and need to prepare well and are calling for support from all soccer loving fans.

“There are many injuries in the team and we are hopeful the players will recover in time for our first match which will be against the club from Solomon Islands on November 1 at Govind Park.

“Ba is grouped in a tough pool but we will give in our best to qualify for the final and progress further from there” he concluded.

Will all respect to the Ba team and their achievements......... they are just admirable and awesome. The are the only district that have featured in most of the finals, won most of the finals and IS THE ONLY TEAM IN FIJI THAT HAS LOST BY SEVEN GOALS (7 GOALS) IN 1983 IDC FINAL ........... GREAT ACHIEVEMENT THOUGH!!!!

It just shows that the hatret will alaways stay there cos BA has put its sword in every ones mind and heart by jus being the champion side for yonks and yonks. Yes thats true, just take the fact and if you cant than im sorry to say that you have to bare with it. Ya thats true ..you may call chumps, cry babies or watever ..it will not change anything,, the jealousy will remain cos Ba is the only dominant team in fiji..ya proof me wrong there, ...its fools statement to blah blah about that Bas winning cos of the imports ...So you ppl mean that BA just started winning recently...!! Doesnt make sense to me or any other person cos as far i know and you people know this as well that BA is the only team from decades that has got a standard record!! so you wana proof me wrong there..!!Teams go up and some jus fall, but some fall rite to the bottom,, as where my dear frens Ba has always reamined the so called Ba, which they are known for.

Nothings have changed....i wont even say that its matter of time, cos theres only one champion to date and thats BA.

PROOF ME WRONG!!

The comments of Rishi is what in psychology is called "cognitive distortions". First of all, IDC is the biggest local tournament, Rishi knows this well himself. Second, Ba is representing Ba in O-league, not Fiji. The O-league may be a game at a different level, but it is nowhere near as prestigious as our beloved IDC. When one is feeling defeat and has anxiety, it is natural to use denial as a defence-that's exactly what Rishi is doing.

mr khanna. ba's record is only for ba people. u can keep it, cook it, drink it, sleep it, or WHATEVER!!!!dont try to blah blah blah about it to non-ba people cos who gives a damn anyway. only time when u talk about it is when u lose. its become too boringly common. lose n u go on about u records as if they gonna give you anything - or maybe sweeten da sour grapes. apart from records ba has nothing no wonder u guys cling to it as if ur life depended on it. we dont hate soccer. its just that ba people act so arrogant as is they have won the world club championship which they never will. they can just win in fiji n blah blah blah

its about time the Ba fans shift focus from IDC loss and support MIB for O'League. We have won so many domestic championship. Win or loose in domestic games does not matter. For record in last 3 Ba won IDC 2 times, BOG 3 times, Fiji fact 2 times, League 2 times and CVC 2 times. Some teams have never won anything in last 3 years such as Nadi, Suva, Rewa. So my dear MIB fans move on and lets look forward for O' Leauge and yes those MIB fans living and working in Lautoka please join the Blues and celebrate with them, they were better team in the final and nothing is to be taken away from them.
