Lautoka gives Navua the blues, into semis October 11, 2008
Lautoka sent out the stern warning going into tomorrow's semi-final showdown when it defeated a star studded Navua outfit 2-0 to take the top spot in Pool 2 and book a date with Nadi.
The Blues sent the highly fancied Gurjeet Singh coached Navua side packing with goals to former Navua man Valerio Nawatu in the 16 minute of play in the first spell and one to Neumi Tagi midway into the second half.
The win for the Blues sees the Ba take second place in pool 2.
Ba will now take on Labasa in the first semi-final of the day while Lautoka takes on Nadi.
Lautoka, with the services of brothers Leone Vurukania, Peni Finau and Osea Vakatalesau combined well with Nawatu, Jone Vono Jnr and Tagi and will be a force to reckon with come game day in Ba tomorrow morning.
Lautoka coach Dennis Singh said his team have beeen gelling well throughout the tournament and are now focussed on the task that is ahead of them.
“We have been communicating a lot as a team and the focus for us is to lift it another notch from where we have left it today,” Singh said after the game against Navua.
“Navua was a strong team but now our focus must remain on the big game tomorrow,’
He said he will be mixing his players around again tomorrow as they prepared for the semi-finals.
