Labasa beats Rewa 2-0, tops pool 1 October 11, 2008
Labasa shrugged off a strong challenge from Rewa in its final Pool 1 fixture, beating the Southerners 2-0 to top its pool with 10 points after three wins and a draw in its four outings at the 2008 Inter District Championships.
After a series of attacks on the Rewa goal, it was nippy forward Kushal Naicker who sneaked past the Rewa defence to beat seasoned goalkeeper Ulaiasi Tamanisau for a 1-0 lead in the first spell.
Lions wonder boy Roy Krishna provided his side with a handsome 2-0 cushion when he raced past a number of defenders and once again found the back of the net in the dying stages of the second spell.
The Babasiga Lions will now face the second runner up from Pool Two, most likely Ba.
The Pool Two qualifiers will be decided after the final game of day three between Navua and Lautoka.
Lautoka currently leads Navua 2-0 with the game well into the second spell.
The winner of this game will top Pool 2 and will push Ba into the runner's up position.
