Govind Park ready for football weekend October 08, 2008
Govind Park, the venue of the 2008 IDC is in perfect condition and ready to host thousands of soccer fans over the weekend says Fiji FA academy manager Chandra Segran.
The Fiji Football owned park which boasts one of the best fields in the country along with the three academy grounds will be used to host the 52 matches of Fiji’s biggest and most anticipated tournament.
According to Segran, the facilities at the academy as well as Govind Park are in tip top condition and patrons and districts will get to utilize the very best for the next four days.
“The grounds committee has worked extremely hard to ensure the facilities are in the best condition so that fans and officials do not get a chance to complain, said Segran.
“The lights at the venue weren’t that good and districts often complained about this and we made it a priority to work on the lights and this time around things should be fine.
“We have also worked on the players and officials stand and teams will get the best in terms of sitting arrangements and the accessibility to the main areas.
“The security and police will be on full alert for the four days and people who in any way will try to bring disrepute to the sport are advised to think twice before making any moves as we will not be tolerating any kind of misbehavior” added Segran.
The tournament kicks off tomorrow with the premier, primary and secondary school matches in the morning followed by the official opening and the commencement of super premier games in the afternoon.

yeah right the ground is ready but the grandstand is still dirty. Those going to watch the game make sure to take something to put on the bench before sitting down. FFA always say ground is ready but forgets about the grandstand especially the cheap one because some guys are too lazy to make a tour of the condition of the grandstand.

Govind park is one of the best soccer pitch in Fiji, no doubt about it. Ever since I had known, it is mostly used for soccer and Ba Town Council had always done good job in maintaining the pitch.
I believe that all players, particularly our overseas based brother will be happy as far as the ground is concerned, not the vocal Ba public...lol...
