Injury sidelines Fiji's Vijay Singh October 05, 2008
World number three Vijay Singh is set to miss at least two months of golf action with an arm injury after pocketing the $Fj16m FedEx Cup prize money last week.
The 45-year-old Fiji Islander has tendinitis in his left forearm and will miss two events.
He has been ruled out of the Iskandar Johor Open, which started on Thursday in Malaysia and the Champions Tournament in Shanghai, China this week.
"I'm very disappointed but it's important I follow my doctor's instructions and do what is best for my long-term health," said Singh.
The three-time major winner has won three US PGA Tour events this year, taking his career total to 34 - the same number as world number two Phil Mickelson.
Of the players still active on the PGA Tour, only Tiger Woods has more titles to his name
Iskandar Johor Open official Datuk Abdul Ghani Othman said he was naturally disappointed by Singh's withdrawal, but added: "I understand from his manager that his injury is serious and will need two months of rest."
