Battle royal looms in Babasiga town September 26, 2008
The quiet and friendly town of Labasa is a hive of actviity this morning as the excitement builds up to big match this afternoon at Subrail Park between Fiji’s traditional rivals Ba and Labasa.
History has it that whenever the two Vodafone sponsored sides collide, there is always drama; action and full entertainment both on and off the field and the same can be predicted for today in the hot scorching Babasiga town.
The streets of Labasa town are already filled with a sea of red color indicating that a bumper crowd will pour into Subrail Park to witness the encounter.
People from the outskirts of Bua, Dreketi, Savusavu, Seaqaqa and Labasa have already arrived into town early to be part of the carnival atmosphere.
A keen Labasa supporter, Suruj Pal who has traveled almost 46 kilometers this morning to be in to watch the clash had this to say:
“Ba to Ba hai lekin Labasa sab ke baap hai”- Ba is Ba by Labasa is everyone’s big daddy.
Pal predicts a 2-0 win to Labasa with goals to Roy Krishna and Joseph Nimariau.
The ground is dry and suitable for playing but the hard and bumpy surface will certainly make it difficult for players to set up crisp moves.
This was evident during the Primary Schools IDC which ended at the same venue yesterday.
Fiji FA 2007 Referee of the Year and Nadi school teacher Andrew Archari will be the man in the middle for the match and will be assisted by Lautoka referees Dina Mani and Ashwin Kumar on the lines while Fiji’s lone female referee Finau Vulivuli will be the reserve referee.
The likely lineup of the two teams is as follows:
Vodafone Labasa- Azmat Begg, Taniela Waqa, Samuela Kautoga, Nemani Rasiga, Apisalome Turuva, Sandeep Nair, Alvin Avinesh, Henry Dyer, Dinesh Mudliar, Joseph Nimariau, Roy Krishna.

Labasa needs to relook at its game plan and Anand Sami to be only technical advisor and bring back Taniela Tuilevuka as Team Mentor.
