Codro put to test, Bukalidi out
September 23, 2008

The Ba soccer team, proven to have survived the test of times over the years, faces another mammoth match this weekend in the race to the Fiji Football Super 6 League title against Labasa.

The Vodafone-sponsored ‘Men in Black’ play Labasa at Subrail Park to crown the 2008 winner.

Ba only needs a draw to wrest the title from the northerners who will be boosted with a vocal home advantage on Saturday afternoon.

They are preparing well knowing their mixed results this season could affect their chances at Subrail Park.

President Rishi Kumar has put on a warrior armor saying the battle royale will keep fans at the edge of their seats.

"We want to win," Kumar added.

Time will tell if Ba’s battle cry is worse than their bite because of casualties inside their camp.

Star striker and match winner Josaia Bukalidi is out after the BOG injury and so is Avinesh Swamy.

Onus now rests on the leadership of sweeper Malakai Kenahewe, Jone Vesikula, Maciu Dunadamu, Roneel Kumar and Malakai Tiwa to form a brick wall against Labasa.

They have to protect their young goalkeeper Epeli Codro, because lethal Labasians like Roy Krishna will be ruthless in front of the net.

Codro, a student of Drasa Secondary School in Lautoka, will be forced to show the man in him while standing between the posts instead of regulars Nicholas Lawrence who is away overseas and Jone Sorolo who could miss the tour because of family commitments.

Kumar is confident that Codro will stop all Labasa attempts on Saturday afternoon.

The match starts at 2pm.

Well....Well...Well...this is the excuse Ba Team is giving in ADVANCE just in case if they LOOSE to Labasa....than Ba can blame that the Goal was too young and inexperienced and Bukalidi as a good striker was injured and hurt...providing best of the best reason for the EXCUSE in advance....nice way protect a lose

This game will be the mother of all local soccer battles. Whatever the results, I believe this will be a game to watch and remember. My utmost respect to Lions and MIB. In the current times, both the teams are true champions !! May the better team, on the game day, win.

I am 200% sure this game will be a thriller the best of the best teams will play. Both teams are very good and I wish both of them well and may the best team win. I also hope that the match officials are competant to keep pace and not deprive either team of fair play. Labasa fans keep the spirit of friendly north be good but hope others respect our friendlyness and not abuse it.

Labasa are camping at subrail park changing room. Three sessions of full training in the heat every day with a final dip in the qawa river for stamina build.Players have been promised $1000 each if they win the league.I think they gonna take this out again this time. Turuva, kautoga and Taniela will control the backs and Roy, Kushal and Joseph Nimirau will fire the rockets in the BA goal mouth.
