Tuilau replaces Kumar
September 08, 2008

The Fiji soccer team has roped in Lautoka defender Ilaitia Nukurawa Tuilau to replace star Auckland City midfielder Shalesh Kumar who returned to New Zealand after the Fiji/Vanuatu match over the weekend because of club commitments.

Tuilau, also a former Fiji Uner-20 player has been one of the consistent players for the Blues this season.

According to Fiji coach Juan Carlos Buzzetti, the Tavualevu villager has been given the nod because of his commitment and dedication in training.

“Ilaitia is a very aggressive player who also commands a lot of discipline and is the best replacement for Shalesh whom the side will badly miss in Vanuatu,” said Buzzetti.

“He can play in the midfield as well as in defence and this will give us options when selecting the run on team against Vanuatu on Wednesday.”

“Shalesh was our key player last week and his absence will be felt in midfield but I have capable players in the squad that can do the job.”

“Vanuatu will be difficult to beat on its home ground but we will go in with confidence and will need to just play our cards right in the match” he added.

Buzzetti is expected to make a few changes to his starting line-up with Rewa defender Samuela Vula, Labasa’s Henry Dyer and Ba striker Maciu Dunadamu tipped to make the starting team.

The Malakai Tiwa-skippered side will depart for Vanuatu tomorrow.

The match will be at the Municipal Stadium, Port Vila at 3pm on Wednesday.

Holdaway!!.. If you dont like Fiji soccer, why do you even bother visiting this site.. No one needs your stupid comments. Instead of encouraging the team, you let em down. I still think dat fiji will produce good players in the future and with more effort in development they can go the distance.

Altaf Khan,
Nadi weren't the winners of the league that year but were given the opportunity don't know why, so really they shouldn't have even been there.

Thanks for details coach...As BA fans got there heads in the sky thinking everything in there tiny town n tiny world is made of Ba. Yes Ba has soccer academy but give credits to those who don't have academy or anything yet they still makes it to the top!
And as far as Ba goes we will find out in the O-League where "only Ba players" will be performing!!!

Holdaway, if our Ba town is tiny then it's a big shame that Ba is able to kick your big town's ass.

Academy is not the reason behind Ba's success. It's the passion for soccer that wins for Ba.

Even if they build an academy in your town, I bet your team wouldn't be able to match Ba.

As far as O'League is concern, yes we'll see. Once again we'll shut people like your mouth. Just like we did in the 1st O'League where we nearly beat Waitakere.

You guys can only dream to play O'League. Meanwhile learn to play in your backyard first.
