Nadi hosts Suva in lone S6 clash
September 05, 2008

Winless Suva soccer side will have the last chance to prove a point in the Super Six Series this Sunday when it meets Nadi in the lone fixture of this weekend.

The Capital City boys have not won a single match in the S6 and a win its last match will somewhat give the Whites some respect while the 10th consecutive loss will sum up on of the worst league seasons for them.

Nadi on the other hand which sits at fourth spot with arch rivals Lautoka has the chance to displace Rewa from the third spot provided it wins over the visitors on Sunday.

The Jetsetters who lost their last fixture to the Blues 0-2 are expected to come out in full force with veteran skipper Marika Namaqa leading the charge from the defensive zone.

National League Board secretary Hari Raj Naicker said the commitment of Ba and a Labasa player in the national camp resulted in the postponement of Ba and Labasa’s fixtures but is adamant the league will complete on time.

“We are looking to finish the league by the third week of this month and with districts in the super six series left with two or three matches, things are expected to end on time.

In the premier division, Tailevu Naitasiri will travel to Ovalau on Sunday to play Levuka at 11am.

The VEnergy Nadi-Power Electric Suva match kicks off at 3pm.

The NEWWORLD League is expected to recommence next week with a full round of mid week and weekend matches.
