Ba ends Labasa's S6 unbeaten run
August 08, 2008

Ba ended Labasa's unbeaten Super Six run tonight as they edged the northerners 3-2 in the feature match of the round.

The win has opened Ba's chances of claiming the title and has also equaled the number of wins to 3-3 between the two teams out of their six encounters so far this season.

Veteran midfielder Keni Doidoi made a timely return after missing the BOG and became the hero of the side as he scored the winner for the Men In Black in the 82nd minute after following a well timed cross from youngster Maviliko Nakama.

As expected the match started on a fast pace and Labasa shocked Ba with a 2nd minute goal to crafty midfielder Henry Dyer whose attempt gave Ba goalie Nicholas Lawrence no chance.

Labasa playing without its top goalkeeper Shamal Kumar had problems in the goalkeeping department in the entire match as stand in goalie Vereti Dixon was not comfortable between the sticks adding pressure to the Labasa defenders who had to work overtime.

Ba's Labasa import Maciu Dunadamu leveled scores in the 17th minute after beating a Labasa defender and placing the ball beyond the reach of Dixon.

The teams rested at the breather leveled 1-1 and Ba policeman Ronald Lawrence opened the scoring in the 13th minute of the second spell with a pile driver which found the roof of the net.

Rugged Labasa defender Apisalome Turuva kept the Babasiga Lions in the match with his thunderous freekick from outside the Ba box in the 31st minute which deflected off Ba defender Manueli Kalou and landed at the back of the net to give Labasa the equaliser.

The last fifteen minutes of the match proved to be the most exciting part of the match as both teams hunted for the winner in the match with Ba managing to find the net through Doidoi in the 82nd minute to send Labasa packing.

Ba coach Yogendra Dutt's changes clicked just as it had against Nadi on Wednesday with youngster Nakama and Doidoi doing the damage when it mattered the most and experienced defender Malakai Keinahewe entering the park in the critical moment of the match to tighten the team's defence.

Ba plays Suva in its third match of the week on Sunday at the National Stadium while Labasa features against Nadi at Prince Charles Park on Sunday in its second match of the weekend.

The teams:
Vodafone Labasa- Vereti Dixon, Taniela Waqa, Samuela Kautoga, Apisalome Turuva, Nemani Rasiga, Menuesi Senibuli, Alvin Avinesh, Sandeep Nair, Henry Dyer (Kushal Naicker), Roy Krishna, Joseph Nimariau (Dinesh Mudliar).

Vodafone Ba- Nicholas Lawrence, Manueli Kalou, Alvin Singh, Jone Vesikula, Shalen Lal, Ronil Kumar, Tuimasi Manuca (Maviliko Nakama), Ronald Lawrence, Pita Bolaitoga, Rinal Prasad (Keni Doidoi), Maciu Dunadamu (Malakai Keinahewe).

Man of the match: Ronald Lawrence (Ba)
Goals: Dyer (2nd min); Dunadamu (17min), Lawrence (58th min),Turuva (76th min), Doidoi (82nd min)

Let me say this again-Ba won, Lions lost. Lions need to get back to the drawing board and come up with a better strategy to win next time (and the remaining games). Every successful team gets back to the drawing board to reflect on it's game strategy each time the team loses-Lions is a good team and therefore, needs to do the same.

dunadamua and lawrence both started they playing trade with suva...they both are suva product and yet we the Suva fans are not sayin that they are stil suva players....its because they are playin for they adopted teams....its the team tht wins or lose whoever scores for them....labasiyan are always crying over maciu but get ur facts rite if he really is a labasa product???just think if all the players in labasa returned to their districts and Suva players playin for other districts returned home...thn wat wud hapn??? Ba all the best...bein a Suva fan i wud say to the labasiyans...ba toh ba hai...bachuu..

I know that Labasa lost, thats a fact but if its not Labasa that gives hard time to Ba when ever they meet one another then let me tell the Ba fans all round the GLOBE there is no other team in fiji soccer who will be able to have a tough go to defeat BA ever........ for Fiji Soccer its Ba winning all the time is no big deal but the standed of Soccer is very poor coz the same BA players fill up the Fiji Team and come to play overseas, what happends when Fiji looses, why cant Fiji win in the world cup quailfers if BA is able win all tournment in one whole year.......that why people call Ba Fiji Team.Ba Wins Soccer in Fiji coz soccer standerd in the country is very low, hold on and see when the O League will SPEAK the reasult for the BA fans, they will start loosing from the start and then they can sing the BA TOH BA HAI ..........tone. If Ba did not have players from Lautoka and Labasa they would have been cripple.

Congratulations Ba for beating Labasa again after the recent BOG finals in the S6 National League series. What excuse has the ""CRY BABY LABASA TEAM" NOW ???.
Labasa fans should learn to accept defeat as Ba was the better team today and try to win in their next encounter against Ba. Labasa was over confident as usual in winning this match.
Ba all the best in your match against Suva in Suva and remember Suva has beaten you twice this year. Go for the win Ba and nothing less.Go Ba Go.

Now let's see if Suva can beat Ba..If not then guess it's back to normal western teams dominating.. It would be interesting sort of like Fiji Fact was only way to stop Ba would be pool them in with rivals Ltk n Nadi n them fight it out.. If Ba pulls thru they will win if other 2 does it's 50/50.

It seems development in BA soocer has been stopped. They have already bought two labasians and now there is rumor that they lookin to get Roy for next year. What a shame on BA alwyas boast about development and history. History is history guys no one wants to go back yesterday. If BA is the true champion team then why the hell they lost all the games in OC which really brought the ranking of fiji soccer to where it is today. If BA didnot had two labasians they wud never be able to beat lions in the BOG final which the BA officals new...ha...ha..talk about development & history......

at last LA muu baand acha!! BA tao BA hai aur BA se takkar na le!!

wat on earth is Janet on about. Ba has seen more players develop through its youth system than Labasa can ever imagine.

Put it this way, you all labasa fans are sour grapes only because ba has 2 of your players on their WINNING side.

At first when Labasa started having players from all over the nation thn youz were jumping at professionalism.

Now that Ba has got two of your very own, youz cant take it yeh. HYPOCRITES.

looking at the Labasa squad, Taniela waqa and alvin played in lautoka
turuva - nadroga
mudliar and dyer - nasinu
joseph - suva

Accept the defeat and MOVE ON.

Good to see Ba junglees celebrating. They have been bereft of this. First win Super 6 then celebrate. That is a title won only by Labasa. Labasa is the only team in Fiji that has won all local titles. Ba needs to work harder to beat that record.

Yet again Ba has won but still the LA people won't accept the defeat gracefully. They will everytime come up with some excuse...the one which is common now is that Ba has bought LA players. Welcome to professional football. buying and selling of players is common so no team should complain about their loss of players. The LA people are talking as if LA haven't bought any players and now since their own players are scoring against them they are feeling the pinch. Anyways all the best to Ba with their remaining games and hope you do well in India. B A B A BA BA

great stuff BA, looks like the lions are hurting. Since they can only see the two labasians in BA and apparently they cannot see the Lautoka, Rewa and Suva player in there team. The game is going semiprofessional move on with the times times.Marciu and Pita have made good moves as now they will have a future playing for overseas teams. Keep up the good work Ba as most people cant see you win, all the best for Durand cup S6 and IDC.

Why are labasa people always crying? In dis professional era of soccer, player transfer is common. N if you read news the labasa guy playing 4 Ba told the news that it was his dream to play 4 BA. He sad its easier to get in the Fiji team than being in the Ba team. Do u col Taniela waqa, Samuela Kautoga and Alvin Avinesh labasaians. At least Ba have reached the OFC final n onli lost in final due to away goal rules. wat has other teams done? try to support your teams guys rather than criticizing others. the best team wins on the day. soccer is the winner.

To all Janet singh, Ko6sharma(my favourite),daud etc you guys go and jump in Labasa river. He,he,he,ha, ha, ha, can't play soccer so talk about Labasa players scoring for Ba. Did they wear red jersey. Are you blind, they wore BLACK jersys. So admit it you are not worh a cent when it comes to BA. Ba is the champ and will remain the champs of Fiji. La will be a puppet. So celebrate with Ba and Go Ba!!!Get the Durand cup from India. By the way Labasa can only dream of going to India, Ba is an international team....Beat this. He ha!!!

Wat happen ko6 sharma.Accept ur defeat. dont make excuses so wat 2 LA players r playin 4 BA.
A star studded team cud not beat BA and talkin abt winnin CVC by beatin BA on their home turf.
Champs of Fiji soccer in CVC(LA)lost to BA two times in a row.Champs also lost in 2 2nament finals, also champs could not represent Fiji in O league.
U labasians remember when was da last time BA won a 2nament(BOG 2008) but nearly all da labasians
can not even recall when did their own team won a 2nament HA HA HA

Sorry krish_12. But for Chandra Prakash BA gave the CvC trophy to La to clean it so they have to return it next year. Don't talk about CvC, how about O League where La had a chance to represent Fiji n they could not beat Ba and by the way Ba representing Fiji in India. Everyone wants to play a good team from Fiji and that is BA BA BA

janet singh.. get ur facts rite ba did win a game in oc. and dont blame ba for fijis ranking dropping. ba has played most international matches then other districts which they are proud of and lost only about 10 international matches in recent 3yrs. also they going to play in durand cup which is 3rd oldest tournament. that goes to show how serious other teams and natinons are in regards to ba.labasa and others teams are like good for 1 big win and cannot maintain consistency. as for buying players look world wide which team is not buying players. if teams are professional or becoming profesional then that happens look at premier league
