Flying Fijians front row, Sunia Koto is Suva’s answer to their lineout woes when they take on Nadroga in the feature match of round eight of the Digicel Cup this weekend.
Koto who finally returns to provincial rugby after returning from his London Welsh club earlier this year is Kalisto Tunaulu’s trump card against the mighty Stallions.
“I have seen Suva play – they have had a good outing but their forward pack suffers glitches that I hope to help improve,” Koto said.
Koto has been playing for his Marist club in the Suva Rugby Union club competition but started training with the Capital City side on Monday.
“I have always wanted to come back and play in the Digicel Cup but I also wanted to just take a break and concentrate on club competition.”
He knows Nadroga will not be a pushover – this after they have been undefeated so far.
“Nadroga is not an easy opponent. They are the champions of provincial rugby, they’ve earned it.
“Their forward pack is pretty impressive and they have the best lineout in the country.”
“But this is my first game for Suva after returning and I want to win them the game. If it means I have to do my part in the lineout and hold the fort in the scrum then I will.”
Joining him in the Suva colours are Alifoso Yalayalatabua, Setefano Cakau, Patrick Osbourne and Dale Tonawai.
“We’ve been putting in the hard yards at training the boys know just how important this game especially is for us.”
“We win this we strengthen our spot in the table and remain in the running for top four. We also down their winning streak – so yes, it is personal,” Koto added.
Tunaulu has confidence his revamped team with the Fiji Digicel 7s coach, Waisale Serevi leading them will claim victory when the dust settles at Lawaqa Park.
“We are going to counter their usual open rugby. I have trained my squad the right attacking option and we have assessed the situation,” Tunaulu said.
The Suva versus Nadroga will kick off at 3pm on Saturday.
