Naqelevuki explains disappearing act
July 20, 2008

Flying Fijians robust centre Sireli Naqelevuki will return to his Western Province club when he is ready.

The Kadavu native has spoken out about his vanishing act after his debut into the Flying Fijians outfit in the recent Pacific Nations Cup.

“I will go back when I am ready,” he said.

Frustration had hit WP officials after Naqelevuki who has been an asset to their last season’s campaign failed to turn up in time for their Currie Cup crusade, an act that has been compared to that of Nemo from the movie finding Nemo.

“We can’t give up on Sireli, the man is contractually bound to WP,” WP coach Allister Coetzee told sarugby.com

“I’m not condoning what he is doing,” he said forcefully. “It is a professional set-up here, we have got young players and you would like to see players act accordingly.”

Naqelevuki has been in a series of speculation, one that he has signed a deal with the rejuvenated Northampton Saints from the Guinness Premiership.

“I haven’t signed a deal with any other club,” Naqelevuki firmly said.

He added he had family issues to attend to and would return to South Africa when he had tied up all other matters.

Naqelevuki’s contract with WP ends on October 31 next year.
