Tiare ready to defend touch title
July 18, 2008

Fresh from their 3-2 win over the Roosters One in the quarter-final, the Tiare Touch rugby is in top form to defend the super premier title in the Fiji Touch Rugby Association final playoff tomorrow.

The defending champions started their campaign on a low note and woke up in the middle of the season to defeat the top team to keep their hopes alive.

It will be a top of the table clash when they play frontrunners Flyers in the first semifinal.

FTA executive Inoke Veresa indicated that it would be an uphill battle as teams fight to wrap up a good season.

“We gathered different results from the teams this season and this reflected the competition level on the field. The field is still wide open and I’m expecting arduous rivalry as teams battle for a spot in the final,” he added.

The second super premier semifinal is between First Touch and Bloodstone while the semifinal clash between Bombers and Flyers in the mixed category is tagged to be the highlight of the day.

The semifinals and the final playoffs are scheduled to kick off at 10am at the Marist Brothers High School grounds.
