Kumar to miss PR series opener

By Sunil Sharma

Former FIji U20 marksman, Roderick Kumar will miss Savusavu's Promotion Relegation opener against Tailevu Naitasiri next Sunday due to suspension.

Kumar was shown a red card in Savusavu's last pool match against Ba at the Inter District Championship for intentionally kicking Avinesh Swamy in an off the ball incident.

Savusavu boss Gopendra Narayan said while they will miss Kumar, they will field an equally capable replacement.

"Roderick is one of our most experienced players as he has played in the national team and other districts like Rewa and we will surely miss him."

"There are other capable strikers in the squad and we should be able to field a very competitive team against Tailevu Naitasiri," said Narayan.

"Ofcourse we would love to remain the Super Premier division in the new season and will give our best shot against Tailevu Naitasiri. They will be very determined and ready to topple us, therefore we need to play our cards right in order to win both the matches."

"Our training has commenced under the watchful eyes of coach Manoj Kumar and we are looking forward to the opening game next weekend."

"Fitness is currently a concern for us but the players are working hard to get fully fit before the match and I have full faith in my players."

The first leg will be hosted by Tailevu Naitasiri on the 18th at Ratu Cakobau Park and Savusavu hosting the second and final leg on the 25th at Ganilau Park.
