Defending champion Ba came from behind to hold Suva 1-1 in its National League encounter this afternoon at Ratu Cakobau Park and maintain its lead on the points table. The Men In Black faced stiff competition from the Fiji FACT champs and did not get any opening in the first spell. The Whites on the other hand missed numerous chances in the first half as Nigerian Issa Sanni and Samuela Drudru failed to find the target. Suva managed to break the duck in the 63rd minute after Sanni was dangerous tackled inside the Ba box by Remueru Tekiata. Match referee Finau Vulivuli did not hesitate to award Suva a penalty and sweeper Simione Maikali drove home the advantage. But the Suva celebrations were cut short minutes after as Lautoka import Abbu Zahid took full advantage of a blunder by Suva's central defenders to easily walk past goalie Emori Ragata and slot the ball into the back of the net. The draw keeps Ba in the lead with 35 points while Suva remains on second spot with 33 points. In other matches played today, Nadi hammered Tavua 5-0, Navua and Lautoka played to 2-2 draw while Savusavu thumped Labasa 3-0. FijiLive | |||
