Futsal playoff shifts BOG tournament dates
March 18, 2010

The Fiji Football Association has confirmed that the dates of the Battle Of the Giants tournament scheduled to be played in Ba will be shifted.

This is to accommodate the Oceania Football Confederation Futsal playoff which Fiji will host in July.

Fiji FA president Dr Muhammad Shamsud-din Sahu Khan confirmed the change and said the board will meet soon to decide on the new dates for the tournament.

“Yes, I can confirm that the dates of the BOG tournament have been changed so Fiji FA can give its best input in the OFC Futsal Playoff” he said.

“We are serious about developing and promoting Futsal in the country and are doing our utmost to see our national team do well in the abbreviated code.”

“There are a lot of plans in the pipeline for Futsal but our focus at the moment is the championship that is coming up and for that we have decided to shift the dates of the Battle of the Giants tournament.”

The BOG was set for two weekends with the first weekend of matches scheduled for July 24-25 and the final round for July 29-Aug 1 at Govind Park.

With the change now, it is highly likely the tournament will be played in August.

Ba is the defending champion of the tournament.
