Former champions Ba handed Rewa their first loss of the National Football League and outclassed the visitors 4-1 at Govind Park.
The Men In Black under the guidance of former national rep and Fiji FA development head Farouk Janeman functioned like a well oiled machine and dominated all facets of play leaving the star studded Delta Tigers disappointed.
Nippy midfielder Rinal Prasad was the star of the side as he time and again involved himself in the attacking moves and also scored a double in the match.
Maveliko Nakama opened the scoring in the 11th minute of play after getting set up neatly by Josaia Bukalidi from the left flank.
Simione Tamanisau had the golden opportunity to equalize in the 34th minute but his attempt went astray.
Prasad increased the hosts lead minutes before halftime with a powerful strike. He was also set up by Bukalidi.
Ba led 2-0 at the break and entered the second spell more composed and determined.
Avinesh Swamy scored the goal of the match in the 49th minute of play with a power house attempt which gave Ulaiasi Tamanisau no chance at all.
Prasad scored the final goal for the Men In Black in the 57th minute to add more worries to the Rewa bench.
Rewa got their consolation goal in the 61st minute from a penalty after James Naka was brought down inside the Ba box. Marika Rodu converted to bring some respect to the score line.
Ba president Rishi Kumar was elated with the win and praised his young side for the fine effort.
“Rewa must have underestimated our young team and that is why we played with confidence and gave our best in the match.”
“Our coach panel did a fabulous job and I take my hats off to head coach Janeman and coaches Semi Tabaiwalu and Ravinesh Kumar.”
“The performance against Rewa has impressed the management and fans and I can say that we are on track to do well in the upcoming Fiji FACT.”
Rewa secretary Mohammed Yakub expressed frustration after the loss and said they had high hopes from the team as they had prepared well for the clash.
“The team prepared well for the match and we had high hopes but playing Ba is always tough so we accept the defeat and will move on from here.”
“We had a young defence which could not contain the pressure in the match and this resulted in the goals scored by the opponents” Yakub said.
Good to hear about the improvement. Now let's see what you can do against Labasa do go to firing to beat them. Go Ba go.

Ba is back with the best local coach in Fiji. Well done janeman. You are still the best. Just guide the young players so they can be great players for Fiji. Hope by that time Sahu Khan will be gone.
