July 02, 2009

The Fiji Football Association has pledged to assist the family of  late referee Leone Rakoroi who died in a car accident in Serua on Sunday morning.

Fiji FA chief executive officer Bob Kumar said the parent body would do its utmost best to help Rakoroi’s grieving family in this difficult time.

“Fiji FA officials will do their utmost best to help his family in arranging his funeral and will also assist them financially.”

“He passing away was untimely and our condolences and sympathies are with his wife and children.”

“Former referee Mahendra Singh is organizing things in Nadi at the moment and we will give the family all the support possible.”

“His contribution to the sport will not go unnoticed and his legacy in football should always be looked upon by all the upcoming and aspiring indigenous players and referees” he added.

Rakoroi funeral has been arranged to take place on Saturday. However the venue of the funeral is yet to be decided as family members are gathering and finalizing details.
