24 clubs for Fiji FUTSAL Champs
January 29, 2009

The Fiji FUTSAL Commission’s first Open Club and Business House Championship which kicks off this weekend at the Vodafone Arena in Suva, has attracted 24 clubs.

The championship initially planned for two days has been extended to two weeks because of the large number of participants.

Fiji FUTSAL Commission secretary Jainendra Sukhu said the tournament would be competitive where the clubs would not only play for prizes but also with a hope that players get selected in the national team to the OFC FUTSAL Champs in Fiji later this year.

“We have a good response from clubs and even before the draws. With 24 teams in 4 pools of 6, we will have a total of 60 matches in pool play. We will play this weekend and also on a midweek day (next week) before the final round next weekend,” he added.

Pools:

Pool A- Southern Forest Red Devils, Green Space, Zion Glass and Mirror, Cope, Tropical Thunder and Nadogo.

Pool B- Bureta Sports, Savusavu, Civic, Addisbrough, Extreme Stationary, Inter

Pool C- Benson Electric, Central Vuci, Fiji Care Insurance, Ruggers, FMF and Southern Forest Red Rock

Pool D- DNR Taunovo, Navasa Sports, Lokia, Flagstaff, Fiji Sun and FSM.

The fixtures of the tournament are expected to be released tomorrow.
