Lautoka Football Association vice president Raymond Singh is calling for unity in the Sugar City following the Inter-District Championship victory last weekend.
Singh said the win restored soccer pride in Lautoka.
“This is the magic of sports. A win unites everyone and it should be a lesson to everyone. We bask on victories but not on its work. Lautoka soccer has always been affected by internal differences and it is time people work together for the betterment of our country,” he added.
Singh is among LFA executives planning a grand celebration to mark the IDC victory over Ba last Sunday.
“The players sacrificed their time, their wealth and their families to win for Lautoka. It is not for them and soccer only, but for the people of Lautoka and soccer fans all over the world. The victory should teach everyone to work together rather than having differences which would spoil sports victories in the future,” he added.
Lautoka City is expected to come to a stand still on Saturday when fans celebrate the win with a float possession led by the victorious team hoisting the coveted Lloyd Farebrother Trophy.

one interesting fact to note some lautoka players would be celebrating 6th straight idc victory.. nice achievement for them...but if they want to celebrate the 7th straight victory then they have to change their team next year as lautoka wont win it..........

Ba should have cleaned the trophy before giving it to Lautoka, since it will stay in the sugar city for a while. For the rest of Fiji soccer districts, lautoka may not have been playing that well in the past few years, but they KNOW Ba's mentality. To beat Ba, you have to get inside their head, frustrate them, don't get nervous by the hype...or that joke, "ba to ba hai"...Ba nothing ! they can be beat by anyone anytime u just have to beat them at their own game. I hope Nadi, Rewa, labasa etc also get to share championships. let's just keep it away from Ba.
