BOG champs Ba needs a win tonight against defending Super Six champs Labasa to remain in the running for the top spot.
The Men In Black currently trails to Labasa by four points on the points table after two wins and two draws and a loss or draw tonight will make life difficult for them.
Vodafone Ba’s lackluster performance against Nadi on Wednesday has put more pressure on the team to perform against its all time rivals Labasa.
Ba coach Yogendra Dutt said they had a light session yesterday after the match on Wednesday and players have been told and know the importance of winning against Labasa tonight.
“There are some niggling injuries in the team and we will be taking a cautious approach in the match as we do not want to risk losing the players through injuries ahead of our tour of India, said Dutt.
“Labasa is a very good side and will come attacking in the match to take revenge for its BOG loss but Ba will give them a good match and will also be out to register a win to remain in contention for the title.
“The players know the importance of the match and I am calling on the Ba fans to come out in numbers and support the team” he added.
Labasa soccer boss Abinesh Kumar on the other hand is confident of his team’s chances and said his boys will be out to topple Ba and maintain their unbeaten run in the Super Six series.
“We have prepared well and will be fielding the same players that featured in the BOG and the earlier Super Six matches, Kumar said.
“Ba is always difficult to beat in its home ground but we did that in the CVC where we beat Ba in its home ground to scoop the title and will be looking for something similar again tonight.
Ba is expected to use the similar attacking formation it employed during the BOG where it crowded its midfield to tie the opposition down in the centre of the pitch and ease the burden on its defence.
Star midfielders Ronil Kumar, Malakai Tiwa, Pita Bolaitoga, Ronald Lawrence and Joshua Wilson will fill in the midfield and penetrate their moves from the zone.
Sensational striker Roy Krishna and Ni Vanuatu Joseph Nimariau will be heavily relied upon by the Babasiga Lions to net in the goals.
Labasa- Shamal Kumar, Taniela Waqa, Samuela Kautoga, Nemani Rasiga, Menuesi Senibuli, Sandeep Nair, Alvin Avinesh, Henry Dyer, Apisalome Turuva, Roy Krishna, Joseph Nimariau.
