Suva peanut seller Mausam Ali is over the moon after he won $4000 for betting for Ba to successfully defend its Battle of the Giants title in Suva.
Ali made a wager with his long time friend and Suva businessman Mahen Prasad who had bet on the Labasa soccer team.
Today he is full of smiles because he is $4000 richer from the deal.
“This is not a surprise because I was confident that Ba will win the BOG,” he said with a smile while going from bus to bus at the Suva City bus stand yesterday selling peanuts.
“Ba to Ba hai and Ba was not that easy to beat.
“After Ba lost on the first day in pool play to Labasa, all my friends at the bus stand started to tease me and Mahen also called me up to tease me, but I remained adamant and told him to wait for the final day as Ba will send everyone home disappointed.” He continued amidst the high pitched voice advertising the 50 cents per peanut bags.
“I spent the whole of Sunday cheering for my team. On Sundays I do not sell peanuts and after the semifinal win I knew that there would be no stopping Ba in the final,” he added.
“I am not new to gambling and would not have been bothered if Ba lost the final. Ba will win the rest of the tournaments this year,” he added.
“Ba players will prove themselves in the Durand Cup and the Oceania League. I am calling on all soccer fans to show their support to the team because they will be flying Fiji’s flag in the two competitions,” he added.

Ba is yet to win all titles in Fiji soccer, has lost all its O-League encounter and God knws the fate in India! Maybe they can get some job in Bollywood.

Put your money on Ba for the Durand Cup in India. That should be a safe bet.
