MIB to celebrate with supporters at home
July 29, 2008

Battle Of the Giants champs Ba has opted for just a civic reception to honor its players for the gallant effort at the weekend.

Ba mayor, councilor Pravin Bala will host the members of the Vodafone Men In Black to a civic reception this Saturday.

Ba president Rishi Kumar said the reception will honor the players and their families for their contribution to the team.

“We do not want to celebrate big because Ba has been winning tournaments over the years and the victory is nothing new to the people of Ba, said Kumar.

“Instead of a big celebration, we have just opted for a civic reception for the players and their families.

“The players were released upon their arrival yesterday afternoon to join their loved ones after being away for sometime.

“The reception we received upon arrival was indeed overwhelming and I want to thank all the Ba fans for coming out in numbers and supporting the boys and the association.

“We had people waiting along the coral coast and through to Ba to meet the players and the boys were really glad to see the support and have appreciated the presence of the fans and well wishers of the team”

“Durand Cup is our next mission and the players will get back to business after spending some time with their families and this is also a reason why we do not want to spend a lot of time on celebrating as we want to get back to our commitments and remain focused” he added.

Ba defied all odds to reach the semifinals and piped Fiji FACT champs Navua 1-0 before their final showdown against Labasa which they won 2-1 after losing to the Babasiga Lions in their opening pool match 1-2.

The Yogendra Dutt coached side featured in the eliminations without its skipper Josaia Bukalidi and star midfielder Avinesh Swamy.

Well done BA...You were a better team...All your goals scored against Labasa were by Labasa players, so I dont see how you guys won. Take the Labasa duos out and you all are nothing. But a win is a win, so congrats.

bukshdog..you are dog indeed..macui is wearing black jumper now..he was playing for ba. he left labasa..nolonger keen to play for you side..you guys have labbelled him as traitor,so why the hell you saying now that a labasian scored the goal..dude,i know you guys cant take the defeat. If nimariau, thomas alvin vainesh has scored the gaols for labasa, will you goin tosay the same thing that suva and lautoka scored??? no..thay are playing for labasa now and they represent labasa... you guys have accused maciu and pita,so you have no right to say that. Pita and maciu want to be with the wining team, thay dnt want to be in labasa coz LA wins 1 tournament in 10years where else BA wins almost all the tournament every year. You pple also accuse of favourtism when it comes to Ba..so let me tell you dude..in field its 11 against 11 and if you guys cant perform thats not our problem. Fo past 4 decades Ba was a consistant team, htis is through hard work, unity, love for soccer and district pride. We in ba dont have any source of entertainment, soccer is our life. Girls in ba play much better then the guys of other district. When Ba team trains there are around 2000 pple their just to see them!!! this is how much we adore soccer in Ba. Ba is the only district that has under 9 to under 17 teams..We dnt see things happen..we make things happen..because "Ba toh Ba hai"

I still can't believe Labasiansa re sour sour grapes and can't take defeat. This bukshdog or bushdog - whatever grow up man. These duo played for Ba and not Labasa so they are Ba players. If Ba players play for other district that does not mean they are playing for Ba. Anyway enjoy our success. Kaun roki

Why would fijilive.com no tpublish what I wrote in the comments section of this article? Was there too much truth for FFA (otherwise known as Ba) to digest ?? If it was too long, please let me know and I can write an abbreviated version.
