Tahiti hands NZ its second loss
June 10, 2008

Tahiti Nui, Tahiti Nui was all that could be heard as Tahiti nailed New Zealand 3-2 to register its second consecutive win after three days of competition at the Oceania FUTSAL Championships.

Tahiti entered the match with full confidence and did not panic at all against the Kiwis and entertained the crowd with constructive football.

Romeo Patira scored the opener for Tahiti in the sixth minute but the Tahitian celebration was cut short as Joshua Martin leveled scores after a minute taking both teams to the breather with a 1-1 score line.

The Kiwis went ahead midway in the second spell through a Marvin Eakin goal and the drama started with only two minutes remaining on the clock and Tahiti backed by lung power of the crowd scored twice through Michel Maihuri who became an overnight hero for the French colony.

Final score Tahiti 3-2 New Zealand.

In the final match of the night, hosts Fiji and Solomon Islands are leveled 4-4 at halftime.
