Labasa sets sights on Ba ahead of FACT
May 15, 2008

The Labasa soccer team wants to beat Ba this weekend to set a good platform to its Fiji Bitter FACT preparation.

Labasa Football Association secretary Imran Hussein said a win against Ba would boost the northerners’ campaign in the first major soccer tournament of the year.

“We want to win the Fiji FACT and we are confident that we can achieve that,” he added.

“Our win against Ba in the Champion Versus Champion Series means that we could change history in major tournaments. We will be there and we mean business.”

Hussein said moves were under way to include New Zealand-based Roy Krishna in the tournament in Nadi at the end of the month.

“We are trying, if we fail then there are other players who could make our wish come true. We have beaten Ba this season and also won the CVC.

“What will stop us from winning the Fiji FACT if we put our minds into it?”

“The Fiji FACT is not our priority now. We have Ba to beat again this weekend and we will do that. Ba will face Nadi first this week (tonight) to determine the league standing.”

Key Vodafone Labasa players who are expected to rattle the Vodafone-sponsored Ba team at Govind Park are Samuela Kautoga, Taniela Waqa, goalkeeper Shammal Kumar and Maciu Dunadamu.

“We are also fortunate to have the assistance of our new coach Anand Sami. Having a Labasa soccer great in camp is a big boost to our players,” Hussein said.

The Vodafone Ba and Labasa match will be in Ba this weekend.

I am touched to learn that Anand Sami is back with Labasa. Anand Sami is a Fiji Soccer Legend !! He is a true national treasure as far as soccer is concerned. His undying patriotism for Labasa soccer is priceless.
If Babasiga Lions can play through the mind of Anand Sami, nothing can stop them from any victory.
God bless Anand Sami and his Labasa Soccer Team.

The consistent team will always win. As in regard to Tournaments - its 60mins soccer unlike league games. Teams have to adopt to the 60mins soccer. The team which scores first has an advantage. To topple BA teams need to have effective game plan. Tighten the flanks, play attacking soccer, man-to-man marking and have added firepower in the last 5mins of the game.
