The Fiji FUTSAL Commission has stepped up its preparation for the upcoming OFC FUTSAL qualifiers.

It has named two squads to start of with training for the regional meet, which will take place in Fiji in June.

Players from the Southern and Western divisions have been divided into two squads and the squads will train separately and meet for the national trials set for next month.

Fiji FUTSAL Commission secretary Jainendra Sukhu said National coach Juan Carlos Buzzetti and assistant coach Intiaz Khan were working with the squads.

Khan is coaching the southern squad and Buzzetti the western one which was picked after two tournaments in the West over the weekend.”

“There was a tournament in Lautoka and one in Ba and the selectors were at the venues identifying players that could be included in the squad for the playoffs,” Sukhu said.

“Being the hosts of the playoffs, we need to field a competitive team that can do wonders and for that we need to prepare well.

“So far the preparations are going on well and the players will commence training from this afternoon” said Sukhu.

Big names like Waitakere United-based Roy Krishna, Olympians Krishna Samy, Esava Samudere, Joseph Mishra alongside Joela Baledrokadroka, Azmat Begg, Valerio Nawatu, Sedrick Dutt, Dinesh Mudliar and Henry Dyer make up the southern squad while the names of players in the western squad are yet to be released.
