Navua creates biggest upset, Ba lose November 04, 2007
Southern Forest Fairtrade Auto Navua created the biggest upset this year when they defied all odds to defeat Vodafone Men In Black 2-1 at Govind Park this afternoon.
Second last placed in the points table, Navua put up a hefty performance to lead 1-0 against a star-studded Ba side. Bueli Nawatu scored Navua’s first goal.
Ba equalized early into the second spell but the 3000 plus crowd that gathered for morale support to their home side boosted 17-year old, Praneel Chand to score the winning goal.
“This is a historic win,” Anil Sharma, Navua president said.
“Consistency won us the game. We took Ba by surprise-we are a much younger and less experienced side. Navua has a young squad but they were determined.”
Sharma added this was a boost to their Courts Homecentres Inter-District Championship preparation later in the month.
“They have made me proud and the Navua people very happy.”
Ba needed to win this game to push Labasa off the top of the points table. After this loss, they remain at second spot with 15 points while Navua boosts eight points and still at second last spot.
This is their second win in the S6 Series while Ba has suffered two losses.
Navua has two games left to play with the fixtures yet to be confirmed.

Congrats to the young Navua side. They certainly played their hearts out and reaped the fruits of their hard work. Ba, however, will come with a vengenance and all teams should be wary of that. In my opnion, Ba is still best tipped to win the S6 given their record of consistency.

It seems people love to hate Ba. When Ba loses a game we can hear all sorts of comments. To the Labasa and Navua fans good on you for beating Ba but you still haven't matched Ba's records and pls stop blaming FFA there isnt any favourtism for Ba. Ba wins on its own accord, hard work, sacrifices and the very suppostive people of Ba.
Shame on other teams for not winning any tournaments in the recent years, maybe you can try winning idc this year...in your dreams guys!

Hey Mr p.narayan,i agree wid you sir,Ba has the record in the past but its not the home twn boys who set the record 4 Ba.To remind u Ba cannot be like da Babasiga Lions becoz Lions only have players originally from Labasa.Look around n see where is Peni Finau & brother Osea originaly from dan try to speak abt the record. Also try 2 b a gud loser not like da Ba goaly Tuba.Just to remind u dat if da economy in La wud hav been better dan you wud hav seen da Lions record,Ba to Kuch nahi hai...
Go Lions Go............

Well fact remains Ba is a champion side. And the FACT that they have held record for winning any tournaments in Fiji the highest number of times. As someone said its not the first time that Navua have beaten Ba but the point is a team is crowned a champion side with their consistency. Learn from Ba. Be real and take some advise. You have a long way to go. I respect Navua as any other team. Your major downfall have been importing players in past years. And don't be childish in making comments like Ba using FFA money. If you have guts go and learn the about the tradition of soccer in this town. We are born with soccer at heart. At least this way you'll learn about developement of soccer in this town. Whatever people say but Men in Black will be making a clean sweep again this year.

SOUNDS AS THOUGH NOTHINGS CHANGED.
I PLAYED FOR NADROGA AGAINST BA IN THE NORTH WEST KNOCK OUT SEMI-FINAL IN 1974 YES 1974 AT LAUTOKA
WE BEAT BA BUT IN THAT GAME I WAS FOULED BY WAISEA THE THEN CAPTAIN OF
BA AND THE FIJI NATIONAL TEAM WHICH RUPTURED MY CRUCIATE(KNEE) LIGAMENT AND LEFT ME TODAY WITH ARTHRITIS IN THE JOINT. I LEFT THE FIELD AND WAS UNABLE TO TAKE MY PLACE IN THE FINAL AGAINST LAUTOKA WHICH NADROGA LOST.
WAISEA WAS NOT EVEN GIVEN A YELLOW CARD. HAIL BA THE UNTOUCHABLES
DESPITE THAT I HAVE SOME FOND MEMORIES OF FOOTBALL IN FIJI VINAKA VAKA LEVU AND NAMASTE

A agree with TISHWA. Its high Time FFA President should go.Mr President is not developing soccer in fiji but is only keen in developing BA Team. Why are most of the major tournment this year have been in BA,yet another one the IDC is also been shifted. All the other distrct wake up and have your share of cake. To MR President is high time you should look after your law firm and give someone else chance.Soccer in fiji will never improve if you have the big BOSS like the President

Mind u Tishwa....the game was not in ba for ur kind info.....get ur facts rite. who says the ground condition can not be blamed for the loss.......Thomson Park is nothn different 4m a bazaar ground, which has all kinds of shapes, where the prediction of where the ball will end up after a bounces is difficult. And dont blame FFA cz Ba' public is very supportive towards its Team and dats where the fundings come 4rm....if you are so concerned about dat then y don't u lend a hand towards development of ur team.......Ba's success is purely frm the hard work and determination that they posses and people are just jelous cz their side lacks in that area.....tell the players to quit smoking, drinking and so on.... they can't ..but Ba players can...n thats the fact. Ba's loss yesterday may hv been frm the teams mstake,...but it also Shows Navua is also regrouping and thats gud....thats exactly wat Fiji soccer needs......help not some stupid critics...who can only tok about the dwnfall of a side n do nothn for the betterment of the sport........thats y soccer in fiji is so low......Ba was very succesful, other teams shud comply with similar programs, so that they do improve and some teams are...thats development and no FFA money was used.....c simple.....but some rusted mind do not undstand dat.

how shallow thinking can guys like ritesh2007 and sikababe have and i guess there are many more....one game doesnt prove anything.....try lifting all the trophies in one season or should i say atleast one and then you can compare teams like labasa and Navua with Ba..
Labasa hasnt won anything yet so stop flying...they are just playing with individual skills...take Roy out labasa wouldnt be in Super Six.play like a team..play like Ba team or better if u can and then talk..even if one player is gone ther are other with same capabilities to take the field..

To ritesh2007 congrats to your team you did a great job. Ba is not known to make excuses for their losses, so Navua played a better game.
Nothing to be taken from the Ba side though we still are the champions.Vijayta, NZ.

Ba lost without any excuse......what happen that.... Every time 3or 4 of there last remaining games are delayed to have them better chances to win the league, what happened this year, LABASA shut them out 3/0 in the league.

I dont know what the fuss is all about Ba losing one game. I want to ask what Navua or any other team in Fiji has achieved. No one and I say no one can beat Ba's record. There are more people around to critise then to compliment. The amount of game Ba is playing at the moment speaks for itself. Most of the Ba boys are tired due to lot of soccer going on at the moment. You losers will alway complain

hey bro Ritesh u r rite BA is BA. well every team has ups n downs. no one is perfect. But u can try to be. Yeah big deal u beat Ba team. Well tell me how many games did navua play in space of 5 days with players hit with injuries. For ur sake Ba played 3 games in 5 days days n u know whom dey played with so u beta put ur tongue where ur mouth is or it will end somewhere ull regret whole ur life. Men in Blacks r proud of wat they team is doing. I think the other teams should be ashamed more like they r jeolous of Ba team coz they cant perform as consistent as Ba. as a matter of fact BA won all titles last year. When Ba plays gud ur mouth is between ur legs shut... and wen they slip then u come out firing. Get real dude... Its a game every team cant win. At the end the best team of the day wins. Dat day was Navuaz. We Ba fans just love football n want to see a good game of futbal. So Congrats nd Mate learn to appreciate...if u cant we can teach u. HOLA

First of all I would like to congratulate the Ba side for being such a strong team and the only team to represent Fiji in the major tournaments. To all the haters that hate on the Ba side open your eyes and look what Ba has accomplished uptill now. I can also see people are talking about Ba bringing players from all over Fiji. Why blame them when they give an oppurtunity for the player to shine and be a better soccer player and not just play for Ba but it opens up the gate for the players to get picked for overseas teams. If you look back and see all the tournaments Ba has won no one can even come close. When there is a major tournament in Fiji all the teams get players from different countries and pay them to play for there team. Why they do this so they can beat the Champs BA. But at the end they still loose and since they brought players from outside prevents there own local boys to show there talents and even play for there district teams. So the bottom line is dont hate the Ba side but congratulate them coz today they are the ones that represents Fiji and gives a chance for the world to see what Fiji has accomplished. Since Fiji has less than a million population we still have an average team and better than most other countries.I would like to give my best wishes to Ba to win the I.D.C and once again shut everyone up.
Born n Raised in BA the Champs
