Fiji’s Department of Women aims to achieve a 30 per cent representation in Government statutory boards.
Interim Minister for Women Dr Jiko Luveni has made three presentations to the Cabinet on key issues and has reiterated her ministry’s commitment to empowering and addressing women issues in Fiji, according to a Government statement.
The Cabinet had recently appointed Dr Luveni the first female member of the Security Council and department of women officials members of national security committees.
“These decisions of Cabinet have wider implication in the advancement of women’s agenda especially on the empowerment of women,” Dr Luveni said.

I fully support Luveni as women all around the world have proved to be better administrators and can handle stress better then man and very little known for corruption. Let us face the challenge and let the ladies make a difference.

Many other ministers who made this same kind of noise about advancing the women's Beijing Agenda have come and gone and there has been no significant change in the overall situation. This minister too will have a good time and then disappear as well. It's the people in the FWCC, the FWRM, the FWAC, and Femlink who are the real champions of women's right to equality in Fiji.
