African choir brings message of hope
09 MAY 2008
Soweto Gospel senior choir members Sipokazi Luzipo and Vusi Junior say their message in the two-day concerts in Fiji is one of hope and faith in God.

Speaking to Fijilive.com at a press conference at the Suva Motor Inn this morning, 24-year-old Luzipo, who is a lead soprano for the world renowned group, said the people of Fiji need to put their differences aside.

“We bring the message of hope to the many out there, hope and faith in God and that through him everything is possible,” the Johannesburg native said

“We are happy to be in Fiji, the welcome reception we had at the airport last night was just overwhelming, we had people coming up to hug and kiss us and taking autographs, it was just so uplifting.”

Junior, who is also one of the pioneering members of the group that was formed some six years ago in South Africa, says the team is ready to give their all for the Fijian public.

The two-time Grammy Award winning choir started its press conference on a rainy Suva this morning by singing three songs from its album, drawing cheer from the local media and staff of their hotel.

The group will be performing at the Vodafone Arena at 7.30pm. Their next appearance is at Churchill Park tomorrow evening before jetting back for the completion of their tour of Australia on Sunday.

The group has been away from home since nine months ago and has recently completed a tour of Lebanon, the UK and Australia.
