Fiji’s Prime Minister Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama has approved the rehabilitation action plan for the Namosi copper project.
This means the rehabilitation works could start immediately.
The action plan emphasises the need for the Namosi Joint Venture (NJV) to rehabilitate the areas used for exploration as per the requirements of Fiji’s Environmental Management Act.
A government team consisting of the Permanent Secretary for Lands, the Director of Environment and the Director of Mining will monitor the rehabilitation works.
