John Prasad, the Fiji consultant civil servant whose reshuffle was part of speculation that the Fiji government addressed yesterday, has made a major contribution to the country’s economic reforms and was moved to coincide with preparations for the 2011 national Budget said Prime Minister Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama.
Bainimarama said Prasad had been moved from the position of acting permanent secretary for Finance back to his former position as consultant special projects.
He told the Fiji Sun newspaper that Finance old hand David Kolitagane would act as PS until a substantive appointment was made.
“John Prasad has got a lot on his plate,” Bainimarama said.
Yesterday, permanent secretary to the PM’s Office, Lieutenant-Colonel Pio Tikoduadua addressed what he said were widespread rumours of a split between the Bainimarama government and the Fiji military and that Attorney General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum and Solicitor General Christopher Pryde had been removed.
These rumours he said were “absolutely not true”.
Tikoduadua was also reported as saying that too much was being read into the Finance reshuffle involving Prasad.
