Outgoing Indian High Commissioner to Fiji Prabhakara Jha has assured that India’s relationship with Fiji will always remain the same.
“Relations with India, as far as India is concerned, it’s excellent with everyone and our national philosophy, our motto is to help family. It is always very deep, sound, and perfect and it will continue,” he told FijiLive at the signing yesterday of a memorandum of understanding with the Fiji government to set up a centre for excellence in information technology.
Fiji’s Minister for Education Filipe Bole signed the MOU with Jha.
The Indian government will also provide $158,200 for more than 125 water tanks in rural and urban schools in Fiji and $345, 490 for five new ambulances for Fiji hospitals.
Jha who returns to India on Monday said new high commissioner Vinod Kumar will arrive soon.
Jha said that Kumar was a career diplomat with wide ranging experience.
“A few years back he was the director of the south and two years back he was in Australia, head of chancellery as deputy high commissioner,” Jha said.
He said the new high commissioner will continue the responsibility of serving the people of Fiji.
