Tourism Fiji estimates that more than 170 senior Chinese travel industry principals attended the launch of the national tourist office’s first ever Fiji travel planner for the Chinese market in Shanghai last month.

Prime Minister Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama and Attorney General and Minister for Tourism Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum attended the event at the Pudong Shangri-La hotel.

Tourism Fiji’s partners at the event included Air Pacific, Shangri-La’s The Fijian Resort and Spa, Captain Cook Cruises, Garden Island Resort, Robinson Crusoe Island and Radisson Resorts Fiji Denarau Island.

Meanwhile Tourism Fiji says a 14-member Fiji tourism industry team joined resources to represent the destination at one of New Zealand’s biggest travel events, the Auckland Flight Centers Mid-Winter Travel EXPO last month.

The Auckland event was one of three mid-winter expos taking place in Auckland/Wellington and Christchurch.

A Tourism Fiji newsletter said the event also provided an opportunity to promote the recently re-branded Coral Coast “where culture, tradition and nature meet” initiative to raise its profile on the New Zealand travel scene.
