A 17-year-old student of the Fiji province of Nadroga died on Wednesday after jumping off a moving truck with five other students on their way back from a drinking party.
Assistant police spokesperson Inspector Atunaisa Sokomuri told FijiLive, police believe that five girls from a school hostel in Sigatoka went to Nadi and consumed alcohol.
“They boarded a 10 wheeler truck on their way back and when they tried to stop the truck, the truck driver did not,” Sokomuri said.
“That’s when all five jumped off the truck and as a result, one student died due to serious injuries.”
Police believe that all five were drunk.
The other four students have been questioned.
