The Australia and New Zealand Banking Group (ANZ) has launched a new online payment facility that offers businesses 24 hours, real-time online sales.
ANZ chief executive officer Central Pacific, Norman Wilson, said eGate is an electronic payment service and gateway that enables merchants to securely accept and process customer payments by credit card via their website with an option of using the Customer Preferred Currency (CPC).
The new platform is provided and supported by ANZ and MasterCard.
MasterCard holders can use the CPC to pay in their domestic currency at the point of sale.
Wilson said work on the eGate project began two years ago and was launched through a pilot program with local company, Cedar Web Consultants.
He said the new facility opens up massive opportunities for businesses in Fiji.
“This benefits a whole range of industries from tourism, horticulture, artists and anything in between and will also benefit the economy by bringing foreign revenue as well as taking the virtual locations outside the main urban centres,” Wilson added.
