More than 700 people in the Northern Division have flocked to the 41 evacuation centres there as strong winds blow away houses and uproot trees, cutting off electricity in major towns.
National disaster management spokesperson Thomas Blake confirmed the figures late Sunday evening.
Blake said most of the residents of Cikobia island had moved inland as strong winds and rough seas threaten their coastal homes.
The Central division has 152 evacuation centres set up for evacuees.
Cyclone Tomas is expected to move in on central Fiji midnight Monday, with Makogai, Levuka and Gau to feel the full brunt of the storm.
Weather officials say the storm could reach Category 4 by then, where wind velocity is expected to peak to 250kmph.
