A strong wind warning is now in place for the whole of the northern region, northern Lau, Taveuni and nearby islands.
And the rest of the Fiji group remains on cyclone alert, says Director Meteorology Rajendra Prasad.
He said people need to take full precaution as gale force winds will hit the northern islands by tomorrow morning.
“People need to stay indoors and ensure that adequate food supply is available,” Prasad said.
The cyclone is estimated to have average winds of 100 km/hr with gusts to 140km/hr.
