The Education ministry has advised all parents to keep their children at home tomorrow in light of Tropical Cyclone Tomas.
Strong gale force winds are expected to hit Vanua Levu from the next 24 to 36 hours.
Education minister Filipe Bole earlier directed parents and guardians to seek further clarifications from principals and head teachers who will direct queries to their local district education offices.
Schools he said, will remain closed until further notice from the ministry.
A strong wind warning is now in force for the whole of the northern region including northern Lau and Taveuni.
The ministry will assess the situation before any further decision is made.
