The National People’s Charter Advisory Council re-convened today and began discussing ways to consolidate all education scholarships under one umbrella.
Council Chairman Josefa Serulagilagi said in order for development to take place in Fiji, there needed to be one scholarship unit accessible for all.
“This has been recommended in the People’s Charter,” Serulagilagi said.
“Rather than having scholarships divided in racial components through the Multi-Ethnic ministry, Public Service Commission and Fijian Affairs Board, there should be one scholarship accessible for all.”
He said the percentage of scholarships given out to different ethnic groups would be decided by the one scholarship office.
