A 60-second television commercial promoting Fiji as a top tourist destination is being shown in New Zealand to lure 103,000 visitors from there and boost travel in low season months.
Tourism Fiji chairman Patrick Wong said figures for the first quarter of 2009 show outbound travel from New Zealand down by 35 percent compared to 2008.
Wong said the "Fiji Me" promotional campaign launched by them was aimed at promoting Fiji as an affordable premier tropical destination, unique from its competitors.
“We are also looking at improving the market perception of the variety of holiday experiences available in Fiji and promote a broader range of the whole Fiji experience,” Wong said.
