The Purple Dress Charity Lunch marked the opening of the two-day Fiji Fashion Week Show to begin at Suva’s Albert Park tonight.
The charity lunch, which raises funds for the Fiji Kidney Foundation, featured the auctioning of three dressed worth $300, designed by 17-year-old Amelia Soqonivere.
“We started the Fiji Fashion Show with the Purple Dress Charity lunch which is part of our contribution to the Fiji Kidney Foundation,” Fiji Fashion Week Managing Director Ellen Whippy told FijiLive.
“This is the only way we can give back to the people of Fiji. The colour purple is something anyone can relate with the Kidney Foundation and we wanted to collaborate with charity, which is one of the important aspects or organising a fashion event.”
The Fiji Fashion Show begins with the emerging designers’ category while the established designers are set to showcase their designs tomorrow.
The kids’ fashion show on Sunday is expected to conclude the event.
Thirty one designers and 60 models are part of this year’s Fashion Show.
