Two Suva homes were last night attacked with the use of home made bombs, one belonging to a former senior army officer Colonel Sakiusa Raivoce and the other to Fiji Times editor-in-chief Netani Rika.
This is the second attack on Rika’s property in just less than two weeks.
Both incidents according to police, occurred early this morning.
Rika told FijiLive that at least three home-made bombs carried in beer bottles filled with kerosene, were thrown at his house windows in Nasese.
“My security guards saw two men fleeing from the area. I know the people who are doing this and they know themselves.
“I think the whole of Fiji knows who the people behind the attacks are so it is better they show themselves?” he said.
At Colonel Raivoce’s house in Namadi Heights, two similar home-made bombs were thrown inside his living room.
“The police responded very quickly. With the help of the police dogs they were able to detect the men who ran towards Nabua,” he said.
He however does not suspect who would attack his family and for what reason.
“They came with the intention to burn my house but I do not want them to hurt my family. I am willing to meet them if they want.”
Raivoce is the head of security firm, Global Risk Strategies.
Police spokesperson Atunaisa Sokomuri has confirmed receiving reports of the attacks and said they were trying their best to arrest those responsible.
He has appealed to the public for any information that would help them.
