To all the die-hard fans of Shortland Street’s Dr. T.K. Samuel, prepare your autograph gear and get ready to meet the man Wednesday night.
Ben Mitchell, who plays a doctor on New Zealand’s famous television series, will be at Village 6, Suva to promote his feature movie Love has no Language.
Movie’s line producer, Prakash Mani, 32, has been in the country for the past three days and is optimistic the film will do wonders amongst the Fiji audience. The film stars Ben Mitchell and Bollywood actress Celina Jaitley in lead roles.
“Many people know Ben by his name on Shortland Street, and they have shown great enthusiasm towards this movie. Both the actors were easy to work with and their on-screen chemistry was just great,” said Mani.
“The Fiji audience will enjoy this movie because the film depicts two unique cultures. The movies will run well since New Zealand and Fiji are culturally aligned since both have a multi-cultural society,” said Mani.
He said the weather was not in their favor since it was winter most of the three months of shootings on site.
Mani, who has been fascinated with the entertainment industry from a young age, said the movie portrayed useful messages such as having love and respect for family, respecting different cultures and tolerance.
Mani, originally from Nadi, had moved to New Zealand twenty years ago, and this is his first feature film.
“The story of boy-meets-girl has been given a modern, multi-cultural twist in New Zealand. It is a blend of two very different and unique cultures, where Ben plays a Maori character and Celina of an Indian.”
The movie also stars renowned Bollywood actors Kiran Kumar and Rati Agnihotri, who play the parents’ role of Celina Jaitley. The movie will also be promoted in Australia, U.S.A., United Kingdom and India.
The movie’s production costs totaled $6 million and were shot around New Zealand, mainly in the Northern lands of the country. It employed over 60 New Zealand crew members and more than 50 local casts.
“Ben is excited about coming to Fiji and meeting his fans, and promoting his movie. His fans are welcome to take full advantage of this opportunity to meet him,” said Mani.
Movie goers to this film will also be given a chance to go into a draw at Village 6 or Village 4 to win a return ticket to Auckland to have dinner/ date with Ben Mitchell, courtesy of Air Pacific.
The Fiji public will be able to meet Ben in person for autographs and photo-sessions from 6pm on Wednesday at Village 6 Suva.
