Miss Earth Fiji, Esther Foss is currently ranked in the top 5 at the Miss Earth Pageant in Manilla Philippines and has also won a gold medal for the country.

The 21-year-old Marine Science student of the University of the South Pacific won the gold medal as a best teacher on environment advocacy earlier this week.

Miss Earth Fiji National Director, Anshu Lata said Foss has made the country proud by winning its first medal at the world competition and continues to impress the judging panel.

"Esther is flying Fiji's flag high at the Miss Earth stage and I am urging all Fijians here and in overseas to fully back her in her campaign," said Lata.

"We have set up pages on Facebook and other social networking sites and people can also vote for Miss Earth Fiji online and increase her chances of winning."

Miss Earth is one of the biggest beauty pageants in the world which affiliates its program with UNEP and promotes
environment issues around the globe.

The finals of the Miss Earth pageant will place next Sunday at 1.00am (FT).
