Son on abduction charge granted bail

The 17-year-old student charged with one count of abduction has been released on bail on a sum of $800 bail by the Magistrate’s Court in Labasa today.

He was taken into police custody with his 36-year-old father yesterday for producing child phonography.

His father was released this morning, while the teenager was charged.

He is alleged to have taken explicit pictures of his 16-year-old girlfriend during a drinking party and showed it to others.

The teenager appeared in court today with his mother as a surety.

He has been ordered to report to the Labasa Police station every Saturday, not to interfere with any of the witnesses and not to re-offend again.

The case has been adjourned till December 3.
