Padarath, Vakaloloma's pre-trial adjourned

The final pre-trial of Suva businessman Benjamin Padarath and lawyer Aseri Vakaloloma was today adjourned to November 15 after Vakaloloma's lawyer failed to appear in the Magistrates Court in Suva.

Vakaloloma told Chief Magistrate Usaia Ratuvili that his lawyer Filimoni Vosarogo is in Lautoka and was not able to make it to Court .

Tobia Ravuniwa appeared for Padarath.

Vakaloloma and Padarath are charged with one count of forgery each.

FICAC lawyer Shalini Sanmogam told the Court that they have discussed issues concerning Vakaloloma and his counsel.

It is alleged that between October 14 and December 31 2009, Padarath, with intent to defraud, forged a document, namely the Articles of Association for BECP Engineering Construction Fiji Limited whereby making a false page of the Articles of Association by altering the particulars of subscribers from an Adishwar Padarath to Voreqe Bainimarama and placed his signature as one of the subscribers.

It is also alleged that Vakaloloma placed his signature on the forged document.

Vakaloloma's bail also has been extended to November 15 while Padarath was denied bail.
