Miss World Fiji (MWF) Koini Vakaloloma performed well at the Miss World Pageant 2012 despite last minute preparations, says Andhy Blake, MWF national director.

Blake told FijiLive, words of appreciation and acknowledgement poured in from Fijians and stakeholders including critics around the globe to commend MWF and Koini Vakaloloma for being a great ambassador of Fiji.

“The world was excited to see her Dances of the World performance last night which was chosen as the opening dance of the night and I am proud of her,” he said.

In the lead up to the crowning in China last night, Vakaloloma made the semi finals of the Beach Beauty competition which he described as a big breakthrough for her and Fiji.

Koini Vakaloloma replaced the winner of the 2012 Miss World Fiji, Torika Watters, 16, who was considered too young for the world pageant.

Vakaloloma is on her way back to Fiji and is due to arrive at the Nadi Airport tomorrow.

Host rep, Miss China Yu Wenxia was crowned the 2012 Miss World  at the Inner Mongolian city of Ordos. Sophie Elizabeth Moulds of Wales finished as first runner-up and Australia’s Jessica Michelle Kahawaty was second runner-up.
