Fiji’s Ministry of Health is reviewing its policy to increase efficiency and improve the performance of the organization.
Speaking at the consultation meeting on Review of Ministry of Health's National Training Policy today in Suva, acting permanent secretary Dr Josefa Koroivueta said this is to maximise their time on their services.
Dr Koroivueta said they need to have serious doctors and nurses who can maximise their time with patients and also maintains the efficiency of the organization.
He said they are also working to reduce 10 per cent human resources annually as part of the Fiji government initiative to reduce waste and increase efficiency.
Meanwhile, there are 70 per cent of women in the ministry.
Dr Koroivueta said women are the strong pillar of the organization.
He added women are the missing link in achieving public health in Fiji.
He said the ministry needs to work on their attitude.
“The public knock us down on attitude and it is what you say, see and act.”
He reminded staff that training is not just on paper but has to be practised as well.
