Oscar-winning actress Halle Berry was taken to hospital after suffering a minor head injury while shooting a fight scene in her latest film, her spokeswoman said Wednesday.

Berry hit her head on concrete after a "nasty" fall Tuesday and then began to vomit -- a sign of concussion -- triggering alarm from aides who advised her to go to hospital, the celebrity news website TMZ reported.

"Halle Berry suffered a minor head injury while shooting a fight sequence on the set of her film, 'The Hive'," the star's spokeswoman said. "She was taken to the hospital as a precaution, but she checked out healthy and was released.

"She'll continue production as planned," the spokeswoman, Meredith O'Sullivan, told AFP. TMZ reported that the incident occurred late Tuesday, and that Berry was taken to Los Angeles' Cedars Sinai hospital.

Known for the "X-Men" movies and her role as Jinx in the James Bond flick "Die Another Day" (2002) with Pierce Brosnan, Berry won her Oscar for best actress in 2002 for her role in "Monster's Ball."

The 45-year-old actress is engaged to French actor Olivier Martinez, who confirmed their wedding plans in March. Berry has been married twice before and has a young daughter with Canadian model Gabriel Aubry.
